Chelsea’s David Luiz ‘hungry’ to win

Chelsea completed a shock £30million deal for Luiz on transfer deadline day just two years after selling him to Paris Saint-Germain for £50m.

According to the BBC the eccentric defender cost the London based club £34 million, two years after the Blues of loaded him to PSG for £50 million.

Chelsea confirms David Luiz has re-joined the club from PSG on a three-year deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £30m.

It has been suggested that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was in favour of signing a more experienced centre-back, and hence their move for the 29-year-old Brazilian. “We had a fantastic story during my first time at the club and I want to help the team and (manager) Antonio Conte achieve a lot of success. I can not wait to wear the shirt and play at Stamford Bridge again”.

David Luiz will once again don Chelsea’s blue jersey in a transfer that will see him returning to his former club, where he won the 2012-2013 UEFA Champions League, the 2013-2014 Europa League, and the 2011-2012 FA Cup. Having a second opportunity to play for this club is wonderful.

Luiz said: “Did I think I’d ever play here again?”

He vowed not to celebrate if he scored against his former club, but did so as PSG advanced on away goals at the expense of Chelsea in March 2015.

Chelsea and PSG have agreed to the transfer fee, and Luiz has headed to London for a physical examination and to sign a contract with the Blues. Now, after two successful seasons with the all-conquering Ligue 1 side, Chelsea have rekindled their love affair with the big-haired Brazilian.

“But there is a dearth of top-class central defenders in world football so the deal Chelsea did for Luiz ticked some boxes”, Carragher told The Daily Mail.

In other moves, Spanish World Cup victor Alvaro Arbaloa, who played last season at Real Madrid, joined West Ham on a one-year deal, and Netherlands defender Bruno Martins Indi moved from Porto to Stoke on a season-long loan.

Four games into the 2016-17 Premier League season, Chelsea has maintained a flawless record, although the team has yet to face any team that finished in the Top 5 last season.
