Sony said last week that all PS4 users, not just owners of the Pro, would be able to use the HDR feature.

Playstation 4’s latest big firmware update, 4.00, is now released in all regions.

The Quick Menu on the console has been redesigned one more time making it easier to find the apps you need and other features. Once again, every PS4 will play every game so this shouldn’t worry those who aren’t upgrading to the new console. It has also been made better with a load of new functionalities which include a Music section which allows a player to play Spotify without having to open it.

A brand new content info screen features a new layout. All you have to do is head to the output settings menu in the Playstation 4 console.

Sony’s new HDR feature won’t do much without an HDR-enabled television, of course.

HDR was promised during the Sony PlayStation Meeting event in NY last week and will be available on every PS4, including the soon-to-be-released new, slimmer model and the PS4 Pro, which is coming on 10 November.

Sony could be announcing the release of its lighter console – the PS4 Slim – this coming September. IGN also reported that a music section will be added to the Quick Menu, and some exclusive features for the PS4 Pro which include 1080p streaming and live broadcast.

The new, slim PS4 will give gamers an additional choice for how they wish to enjoy PlayStation content, according to KEF Media. Everything including game saves, data and account information can be transferred from one console to another with the help of a LAN connection. Games and apps that support HDR now render with HDR (amazing right?). It’s going to offer HDR and 4K visuals as well as enhanced graphics on selected games.
