Add to the economic and legal turmoil the fact that North Carolina is one of 12 states who pollsters are uncertain how it will vote in the presidential election, and the implications of HB2 become even more dramatic. They include Rep. Charles Graham, whose district includes part of Robeson County. Smith had an excused absence that day. Pat McCrory’s office said Friday.
McCrory spokesman Josh Ellis said in a statement that the governor would call a special session if two requisites are met: Charlotte must move first to repeal its expanded protections to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people; and secondly, a majority of lawmakers must be in favor of repeal.
