Authorities continue to search for suspects in New Jersey explosion

New York City Police Commissioner James O’Neill said Sunday afternoon that at this point investigators do not see a connection between the New Jersey bomb and the New York City devices, and that the investigation is ongoing.

They said each bomb contained different materials but added that they weren’t ruling anything out yet.

The explosive, which was planted along the route of the Semper Five charity 5K, could have killed or badly injured the runners, but because the race was delayed for multiple reasons, no one was nearby when the device went off.

The SPD won 22.8 percent of the vote, dropping 5.5 percent, while the CDU won 17.8 percent, down 5.6 percent, ARD public television reported.

“Officials said that, had the race started on time, a” good number of people”, would have been passing the site at the time of the blast.

Members of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force were investigating the blast along with New York Police Department detectives, fire marshals and other federal investigators.

The FBI and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives is leading the investigation into the bomb with assistance from New Jersey State Police and local and county authorities.

Newark FBI spokesman Michael Whitaker said investigators continue to canvass Seaside Park and conduct interviews. He said no additional devices were found after the dogs completed their sweep.

“It is a real shame that that charitable run that does so many great things for the Marines is now canceled”, Della Fave said.

Bomb experts will analyze the device and how it was made, according to CNN senior law enforcement analyst Tom Fuentes. “So it still could be terrorism without being global, without being al Qaeda or ISIS or another affiliated group”. His brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was found guilty of 30 counts related to the bombings and sentenced to death.
