Ross identified the suspect as Nicholas Glenn, who is believed to be 25 but has several possible dates of birth.

“I don’t know if she would have been able to return fire if she wanted to”, Ross said.
Glenn was “clearly trying to assassinate her”, said Ross, noting Glenn fired at close range 18 times. At least one civilian victim died, according to local news reports, and the suspect was also killed in a shootout with police.
A woman is dead after the gunman fired shots into a parked vehicle, according to Associated Press reports. “We can all rest easier knowing that they are daily doing their job to keep us safe”.
He added that police were now trying to track down the probation officer mentioned in the note ‘to make sure they are okay first and foremost’.
The other officer injured, Edward Miller, 56, had been on University of Pennsylvania’s police force for two years.

Terrence Crutcher, 40, died at the hospital where he was taken after he was shot by the officer at around 8 p.m. Friday, police said. A relative of the suspect aided police in finding a location where investigators believe Glenn had been staying most recently.
Ross says police recovered 3 magazines, and a bag containing 13-15 live rounds from Glenn’s body. Then, moments later, the suspect shot into a auto, striking a man and a woman who police say are in critical condition. Miller was shot in the pelvis and right ankle.
“If an individual can harm a law-enforcement officer they can harm just about anybody, and that’s what he did”, the commissioner said. Inside, Ross said, police found more ammunition.
Although Nicholas named a specific parole officer in what is being called a “rambling” letter filled with anti-police rhetoric, Glenn’s shooting spree in Philadelphia targeted random people, according to NBC News.
Mayor Jim Kenney told ABC-affiliate WPTV that the injured officers were awake and conscious when he visited them early Saturday.
The shootings in Philadelphia follow similar, ambush-style shootings in July that left five police officers dead in Dallas and three dead in Baton Rouge.

The 19-year-old suspect later was found hiding behind a building and was taken into custody.
