Russell Wilson Unlikely To Miss Any Time With Sprained Ankle

The two-point lead was credited to Wilson, who was able to throw a game-winning touchdown to secure a come-from-behind victory for Seattle. Reports surfaced Monday that Wilson’s status for Week 2 was questionable, however, a social media post from the quarterback indicated he’ll be on the field Sunday.

Another catch by Baldwin got Seattle to the 2; he finished with a career-high nine receptions for 92 yards in his first game since signing a $46 million contract extension.

“It feels a little sore, but I’ll be all right”, Wilson said after the game.

If Wilson can’t play in the NFC West opener, the Seahawks would go with backup Trevone Boykin. Boykin had his helmet on and was taking snaps with starting center Justin Britt in front of the bench before Wilson popped off the training table to re-enter the game to begin the Seahawks’ next offensive series. “He’s planning on playing”, coach Pete Carroll said. The Dolphins could have used Williams on Seattle’s final drive. Russell Wilson does incredible things with a garbage offensive line.

“He’s not in a boot and he’s walking around and he’s practicing on Wednesday”, Carroll later added at a Monday afternoon news conference.

Wilson played well enough on the injured ankle to rally the Seahawks to the win with a touchdown pass to Doug Baldwin in the final minute.

Russell Wilson helped lift the Seahawks to the 12-10 win in the fourth quarter, and he did so with an ankle injury after being stepped on (unintentionally) by Ndamukong Suh.

“The one thing about Russell is he wants that feeling, he wants that pressure, so I went up to him personally and told him about it”, explained running back Thomas Rawls. However, he was clearly limited in his mobility. But now that’s the kind of stuff I talk about when I say about how far Russell has come and how the communication and chemistry that they have.

“I was going out there and trying to take advantage of every opportunity I had on every play”.

Even if Wilson ends up playing, fantasy owners should start looking for a Plan B on the waiver wire. His movement in the pocket was affected by that ankle injury, and that can be a major problem for a guy who is considered to be a dual threat QB, and that is one of his most powerful weapons and best qualities. Coach Mike McCoy said he doesn’t know when Bosa will be ready to play.
