Ira DeWitt, the wife of St. Louis Cardinals President Bill DeWitt, will be paying the full funeral expenses for a 9-year-old girl who was shot to death in her Ferguson home earlier this week. At the time of the shooting, there were other people in the home, According to the grandmother her husband and Jamyla’s brother were also in the home when someone opened fire. Police say Jamyla Bolden was in bed when she was shot.
Jamyla was a fourth-grader at Koch Elementary.
“There needs to be a reevaluation of human life: (whether) black, white, young, seasoned, whether in Ferguson, or areas considered affluent”, Pastor Willis Johnson told KMOV. He explained, “This epidemic of lost life under false pretense and of no real significant reason has to change”. So far, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting, and police have not disclosed any possible leads or motives.
Alderman Wesley Bell said he is confident the community will hear from law enforcement officials soon. “I still have her blood on my hands”.
“Don’t just do it for me. But right now, rest assured they are doing their job”.
