Cirque du Soleil Creates New Show for Broadway
“We are thrilled to be joining the Broadway community and we are proud to have our Cirque du Soleil family perform in the same neighbourhood as so many other talented Broadway artists”.

The show is set to begin previews on April 16, 2016 with an official opening set for June 2, 2016.
Cirque du Soleil is hoping the third time’s a charm with “Paramour”, a Broadway show that represents the latest attempt by the global troupe to crack the New York market with a long-term production, after the flop of “Banana Shpeel” in 2010 and the two-summer run of “Zarkana” in 2011 and 2012.
The show is set in the golden age of Hollywood and tells the story of a young poet who is forced to make the choice between love and art. It will mix circus arts with musical theatre.
By choosing the Lyric Theatre for “Paramour“, Cirque is entering eerie territory.
At this point, it is slated to be a long-running show in the spacious venue, Broadway’s second-largest in seating capacity and previously home to the equally high-flying Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark.
No casting for the 38-member company has been announced, but direction will come from French stage director and choreographer Philippe Decouflé, under the artistic guidance of Jean-François Bouchard.
Tickets for “Paramour” are now on sale via Ticketmaster.
Quidam features 46 acrobats, musicians, singers and actors showcasing spectacular aerial feats and astonishing human agility.
Music for “Paramour” is being written by the team known as “Bob & Bill” – real names, Guy Dubuc and Marc Lessard.

After nearly 20 years of travelling the world, this New Zealand tour will mark the final chapter of the show when it is permanently retired at the end of the Christchurch season.
