Bombings suspect in custody after shootout with police

Rahami was captured during a shootout with law enforcement in Linden. He was shot in the leg before he was taken into custody.
Rahami was described as a naturalised United States citizen who was born in Afghanistan on January 23, 1988, Xinhua news agency reported. They could not say if he had a criminal record.
Investigators first identified Rahami on Sunday afternoon, a senior law enforcement official said. He also would not comment on motivation, saying it’s part of the investigation. Police reportedly found him sleeping in the vestibule of a local bar. “Folks around here, they don’t get scared”.
President Obama, in NY to attend the United Nations General Assembly, delivered a statement Monday.
The bomb that exploded on 23rd Street injured 29 people, all of whom have been released from hospitals.
New Jersey court records show that Harbor Terrace Apartments in Perth Amboy, N.J., filed a 2013 landlord-tenant civil action against Rahami in Middlesex County Court. The bomb was in a trash can along the route of a 5K charity run for the Marine Corps. No one was injured in the Seaside Park blast. A second device was found several blocks away and handled by the NYPD bomb squad. Police say each of the separate homemade bombs allegedly used flip phone detonators, which may imply they were made by the same person or persons.
That’s the same city where a backpack with multiple bombs inside was found Sunday night, but so far authorities haven’t publicly said whether they believe Rahami is linked to those explosives.
Two officers were hit during the shootout, said Chris Bollwage, the mayor of the nearby city of Elizabeth. As the robot was doing so, one of the devices detonated.
No terrorist group has claimed responsibility for any of the bomb incidents.
“Today I believe we’re going to find out that [the bombing] was influenced by foreign sources”, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday on “Fox & Friends”.
He was wanted in connection with the bombings in NY and New Jersey.
“Search warrants that we did Sunday night at the residence in Elizabeth”, the official added. The lawsuit was terminated in 2012 after Mohammad Rahami pleaded guilty to blocking police from enforcing the restrictions on the restaurant.
He said: “It does not help if false reports and misinformation is out there”. She dropped the charges after he was arrested.
Nine people were attacked Saturday, none fatally, at the Crossroads Center in St. Cloud.
