As the ceremony reached its midway point, host Jimmy Kimmel invited Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) to hand out peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to the audience – in character.

We all have that one friend who will readily remind you of the day when you did not win the award.

Ex-presidential candidate and former Florida governor Jeb Bush told Emmys host Jimmy Kimmel he’s “in between jobs” right now.

Kimmel quipped earlier tonight “Thanks to Mark Burnett, we don’t have to watch reality shows anymore because we’re living in one”.

Kimmel on Republican president nominee Donald Trump: “Television can also tear us apart”.

After a few jokes about how diversity at the Emmys puts the Oscars to shame, Kimmel brought things around to the 2016 presidential race on everyone’s minds. “We’re not mailing this to her. Maggie if you want this, it will be in the lost and found”, Kimmel said, walking off stage with her award. He gave an Emmy to Jeffrey Tambor, saying, “That saved us 22 minutes”. “That’s a bummer. It makes a lot of sense…but you must be really bummed out”, cracked Damon.

“Yeah, I’m a little disappointed”, Kimmel admitted.

“If we call your name and you’re not here to accept, the Emmy goes to the next name on the list”.

Finally he took his leave with the parting words, “I’ll see you later at the after party”.

But Kimmel’s triumph as Emmy host wasn’t getting the last word.

“There’s an after party?” said Kimmel, looking crestfallen.
