Cincinnati Masters: Andy Murray beats Mardy Fish to progress
British tennis star Andy Murray beat top-ranked Novak Djokovic 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the Canadian Open final here to snatch his third win at the Canada’s Masters 1000 tournament.

Murray broke right back, however, then dominated the tiebreak to close the match out after midnight.
Fish, who is set to retire after the upcoming US Open, has beaten the Scot at prestigious events such as Queens and the Miami Masters and the world number two was quick to praise his rival after the match.
Djokovic, who has already won six ATP World Tour titles this year, is confident he can take the next step as he prepares to face Frenchman Benoit Paire in the second round.
But the Briton still trails Djokovic by almost 6,000 points in the standings a huge gap that Murray has no realistic chance of closing until next year.
Murray secured a decisive break in the third set to go 3-0 up, although at 4-1 he had to see off no less than seven break points to maintain his lead.
Djokovic will play Belgium’s world No14 David Goffin in the next round. “Conditions were tough as well, very humid, so different to last week”.
Venus Williams had to wait out a rain delay of more than two hours before beating Zarina Diyas, 7-6 (6), 6-4.
Twelfth-seeded Richard Gasquet survived a first-set tiebreaker and advanced with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win over qualifier Thanasi Kokkinakis.

Top seed Novak Djokovic cruised through his opening match at the Western & Southern Open on Wednesday while Stan Wawrinka had to come from behind to get by Croatian teenager Borna Coric and secure his spot in the third round. He will next take on his compatriot Feliciano Lopez in the next round.
