Even that couldn’t rock Kimmel’s relentless even keel, as he made a smartly measured joke wondering if bringing down the patriarchy was good for him or not, then transitioning to a why-hasn’t-somebody-said-this-before bon mot about Transparent being a drama that identified as a comedy. After an awkward silence, Kimmel said it was a joke-the TV star embroiled in decades-old accusations of sexual assault wasn’t invited. It revised how votes are cast and counted, switching from a ranking and points system to letting voters simply check off their top choice.
