The FBI has taken five men thought to be involved in Saturday’s Chelsea bombing into custody following a traffic stop near the Verrazano Bridge on the Belt Parkway Sunday night.

Additionally, the devices found in New Jersey contained an easily obtainable explosive black powder.

No one has been charged with any crime and the investigation is continuing says the FBI.

As ABC News previously reported, multiple law enforcement officials tell ABC News that investigators are exploring the possibility the two explosions in NY and New Jersey are linked to the same bomber or bombers by what appear to be similar types of cell phones.

Weapons were found in the vehicle when it was pulled over on the Belt Parkway after crossing the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from Staten Island, NYDailyNews.com said.

Cops collared the men as authorities shut down an Elizabeth, New Jersey, train station after finding multiple pipe bombs in a garbage can.

“We know there was a bombing”, in the city last night, the mayor said.

He said that he is in contact with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie regarding an explosion that took place yesterday in Seaside Park, New Jersey, during a 5K race, but said that the explosive devices used were “different”.

After being questioned by Federal Bureau of Investigation at the Manhattan headquarters, the five were released and not charged, the agency’s NY office said.

The blast startled residents blocks away.
