The comic surprises stopped with the Best Actress and Actor categories: Julia Louis-Dreyfus won for the fifth time in a row for Veep – a repeat, sure, but a well-deserved one.
And with the snap of a finger, we switch from comedy to reality TV. It was a hilarious segment people. Kimmel’s seen-it-all, above-it-all schtick can be a little exhausting in the traditional late-night format, which has essentially settled into the TV equivalent of a cup of lukewarm tea before bed.
American Crime Story with its portrayal of the landmark People vs O.J. Simpson trial was the next best thing at this year’s Emmys. “We won our first Emmy!”

In an attempt at comedy that fell flat, the ceremony announcer indicated that Bill Cosby would be taking the stage. It was her third win for playing the formidable dowager.
“Thrones”, the blood-soaked fantasy juggernaut based on George R.R. Martin’s novels, was honored as television’s best drama.
This year, however, the series lost in the drama acting categories, which were far from predictable. Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek for Best Actor in a Drama? He shot back that Kimmel and ABC were giving Trump another free round of publicity while accepting an award for The Voice.
The BBC welcomed the wins for Sherlock and The Night Manager. The same episode also fetched the writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
