Mexico-US World Cup qualifier once again in Columbus

MAPFRE Stadium will be the site of USA-Mexico, Presented by AT&T, on November 11 as the teams open Final Round qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Columbus has been the site for every USA home game against Mexico in the Hex since 2001.

After four consecutive 2-0 home wins at Columbus in qualifiers against El Tri, the U.S. Soccer Federation announced the decision Monday on the site of the November 11 match. The U.S. won the four games in 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013 – all by a score of 2-0.

It’ll be another huge occasion between Mexico and the U.S.in Columbus. Fans will have the ability to book rooms at a special U.S. Soccer rate at the Courtyard Columbus Downtown and Residence Inn Columbus Downtown. It’s a game where emotions will go through the roof, and we need to have our crowd behind us bringing their voice against our biggest rival.

Tickets for the game through U.S. Soccer will be issued through a lottery. U.S. Soccer will use a lottery system for other ticket sales, with U.S. Soccer members having a better chance to be selected. U.S. Soccer Members as of September 6, 2016 will have their applications included in an early lottery selection phase prior to the inclusion of those applications from the general public. Requests are limited to four (4) tickets and one (1) application per household or place of business.

The general public may apply for tickets between Friday, Sept. 23, and Thursday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. ET. These tickets will also be allocated by random selection. They got that, and a cold front that made for frigid temperatures that the US had no problem in, while Mexico struggled to acclimate.
