Mary Elizabeth Winstead joins ‘Fargo’ season 3
Carrie Coon will play the female lead in Fargo season 3, Variety reported. FX’s casting spree doesn’t end there, though, as word of Mary Elizabeth Winstead climbing aboard has been followed up with confirmation that Scoot McNairy, star of Batman V Superman and Halt and Catch Fire, has secured a recurring role on Fargo’s third season. According to Entertainment Weekly, Winstead will be playing Nikki Swango, “crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing”. She can be described as a woman who seriously concentrates and follows her plans and likes to be always ahead of her enemies.

Ewan McGregor is playing two characters, brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. Emmit, the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, is a handsome, self-made, real estate mogul and family man who sees himself as an American success story. The parole officer, who peaked in high-school, has a chip on his shoulder and blames his brother for the hand life has dealt him.
Carrie Coon (Gone Girl) will play Gloria Burgle the chief of police of the small town of Eden Valley.
With all the rave reviews, it’s no surprise that a Fargo season 3 was coming from FX.
And boy, Season 3 is living up to those standards. The series will premiere in 2017.

Fargo hails from Peabody, Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning Executive Producers Noah Hawley (creator/showrunner/writer/director), Joel & Ethan Coen, Warren Littlefield and John Cameron. The first season of Fargo was headlined by Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, and Allison Tolman; the second installment starred Patrick Wilson, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons and Ted Danson. “As far as I know, there is one [character returning]”, said Landgraf “That doesn’t mean [Hawley] might not change his mind and there might not be more”.
