Canadian actors thrilled by Tatiana Maslany’s Emmy win

Given the show’s premise – she plays one of a series of clones – she has had to play multiple characters, each with different personality traits, quirks, and accents, often playing against herself in many scenes.

In her speech, she praised the show for its many female characters: “I feel so lucky to be part of a show that puts women at the center”. Other nominees included Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Keri Russell, Robin Wright, and Claire Danes. “So as exhausted as I was, I guess I felt really rejuvenated and ready to play more in Orphan Black”.

The sci-fi thriller, which also netted Maslany a Golden Globe nomination in 2014 and three Canadian Screen Award wins, recently aired its fourth season and the next season will be its final one. That was followed by Mr. Robot star Rami Malek’s win for best actor in a drama – his first-ever win as well – along with Game of Thrones’ win for best drama, Veep’s win for best comedy and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story star Sarah Paulson’s win for best actress in a limited series (another first-time winner).

For the first time since “Orphan Black’s” premiere in 2013, fans of the show have a reason to celebrate on Emmys night. Besides the cast of Orphan Black is a fan of it!

Speaking backstage, she said: “My phone kept going off accidentally”.

She said: “I didn’t expect it at all”.

“I felt really creatively stimulated this year”, said Maslany in an interview in July after her nomination was announced. No wonder her Emmy was so much in the cards considering she did the work of a dozen people at once over a tenure of four years.

On the red carpet, Maslany dished to Frazier on the red carpet about which clone she’ll miss the most when the show ends after its upcoming fifth season, and it might not be who you think!

“She has a unique opportunity, but she’s got the stuff to make it work”.

Twitter is teeming with laudatory messages for Maslany, who was also trending on the social media site on Monday morning. “It’s not something everybody can do, what she’s doing on that show”. Everyone from famed “Hamilton” playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda to Oscar victor Brie Larson and pop duo Tegan and Sara tweeted congratulations.
