The memoriam honored a handful of legendary stars who passed away this year including Gene Wilder, Patty Duke, Garry Marshall, Muhammad Ali, Garry Shandling, Doris Roberts and more. The very show that thrusted Christina into the spotlight.
Musiclover8543 agreed. ‘I wish they would have recognized Christina Grimmie in that montage #Emmys’.
Grimmie was best known for being a contestant on season 6 of The Voice, where she finished in third place on coach Adam Levine’s team.
In June, singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed by an attacker in Orlando, Florida, prompting an outpouring of grief and sadness from fans across the country. Apprehended by a crazed fan, she was shot in the chest, tragically dying at the scene.
“Sad and disappointed to see that the #Emmys left Christina Grimmie off of their memoriam special”, one Twitter user wrote.
Whether Grimmie’s inclusion was merely overlooked or her absence was intentional, it’s totally right that people are pissed.
