Samsung will recall Galaxy Note 7 handsets already sold to consumers in South Korea following incidents of the phone’s battery exploding, local media is reporting.

The company is relying on the Galaxy Note 7 to drive its sales momentum for 2016 and retain its global leadership in the smartphone market.
“Shipments of the Galaxy Note 7 are being delayed due to additional tests being conducted for product quality”. There is some speculation that Samsung is running some deeper quality checks due to reports of Note 7 batteries exploding.
The stoppage of Galaxy Note 7 deliveries to the three mobile carriers – SK Telecom Co., KT Corp. and LG Uplus Corp. – began earlier this week, according to officials at the mobile carriers.
Samsung has smartened up the flip phone form by having the Galaxy Folder 2 run Android. Which is likely a reason why financial institutions will see the Note 7’s iris scanner as a welcomed edition. The company is delaying shipments of its latest flagship until it can do more quality control testing.
Demand for the Galaxy Note 7 has been strong, said Samsung speaking to Fortune.
This wouldn’t be the first time non-compliant third-party USB-C cables have caused damage, with reports of laptops suffering the same fate.
USB-C is capable of delivering much faster recharge times than MicroUSB but the increased amount of power running through the cable has the potential to become unsafe.
Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge sales were hurt previous year due to production problems with the curved display.
Despite the faulty battery, Samsung will still release the Galaxy Note 7 in China on September 1st, following their original plan.
