The game was tied at 2-all when Gonzalez connected off All-Star closer Brad Boxberger (4-9), sending a full-count fastball into the seats in right field to give Houston the win.

After six strong innings from starter Karns (and exclusively 84 pitches on an evening they have been shorthanded within the bullpen) and a stunning 1-2-Three performances by relievers Xavier Cedeno and Alex Colome (who struck out the aspect on 10 pitches), the Rays put the 2-1 lead in Boxberger’s proper hand. Carlos Correa’s first-inning homer was the only damage.
“They’re tough losses, ” manager Kevin Cash said.
“I said I knew what I was doing, and I tackled him before, so it was not a first”, Correa said.
It took the Houston Astros extra innings to get it done on Wednesday but they got the win over the Rays.
“When I’m on the baseball field I’m the big guy”, said the 6-foot-4, 211-pound Correa, who discussed visiting Texans camp when Watt visited the Astros.
Josh Fields got the win on his 30th birthday, striking out both batters he faced. Two batters later, Boxberger had his fourth blown save to accompany his ninth loss earned the previous evening. They all count the same.
Correa also met fellow No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney and several other Texans. The Astros perform similarly when they allow one or more homers with a 24-38 record. Tim Beckham drove him in with a triple, and came home on a sacrifice fly.
The Rays had trouble stringing hits together against Dallas Keuchel until the seventh. Fans booed loudly when he scored, still upset about a play before his single when they thought a fan interfered with Luis Valbuena’s chance to catch his foul ball. Logan Forsythe (.282, 48 Rs, 13 HRs, 51 RBIs, 8 SBs) has been hitting the ball well for the Rays, going 2 for 5 yesterday with one run and one stolen base. It was the 18th start where he allowed two or fewer runs, which ties a franchise rookie record set by Rolando Arrojo in 1998.

Lowrie singled after Correa’s homer, but the Astros didn’t get more than one hit in an inning until the ninth.
