‘Fabregas may be finished at Chelsea. Conte doesn’t trust him’

Midfielder Cesc Fabregas must continue to sharpen the defensive side of his game to earn a place in Chelsea’s starting line-up, manager Antonio Conte has said. In order to make this happen, he would be interested in leaving Stamford Bridge in order to ensure regular first team football. He has only started the League Cup win over Bristol Rovers.

‘He is an important player for Chelsea, a good passer, good technique, and he can scores goals.

And Nevin, who thinks Conte will start counting on Fabregas once he sees the Spaniard in full swing, feels the former Barcelona star should be given a chance against the Foxes. This is proving to be a little problematic. Perhaps that’s because he doesn’t fully trust his back line, but this is a waste of the man that did magnificently in chasing down opposition midfielders last season, and dominate the heart of the pitch.

Fabregas is now either left with the option of rotting on the bench, waiting for an opportunity to come or else move on to a fresh club where he would be the main orchestrator in midfield.

The presence of Kanté and Oscar would provide Fabregas sufficient protection to utilise his creative talents.

Perhaps Matic is going to grow into the role as the season goes on. Fabregas is often the individual responsible for instigating a counter-attack, or providing the early ball for Diego, thus allowing the team to advance.

Costa has scored five goals from open play in the Premier League so far.

“Last season Chelsea conceded 55 goals”, he added. The Spain global has had a tough start to the season with manager Antonio Conte yet to offer him 90 minutes of Premier League action. The Spanish midfielder just isn’t up to Chelsea’s caliber anymore.

At the same time, Fabregas must stay patient. The 29-year-old is directly competing for a spot in the midfield with Oscar, and the Brazilian is doing well under Conte.

Oscar has started each of Chelsea's four Premier League games so far this season
