Rangers have suspended midfielder Joey Barton for three weeks following a training ground dispute with teammate Andy Halliday, the Scottish club said Monday.
“As someone who communicates directly, I accept that some of the things I said were inappropriate and for tht I apologise unreservedly.I can not, however, apologise for caring deely about winning and for wantiing to perform buch better muself and for Rangers to do much better”.
It appears Rangers chose to act after Barton made an unauthorised appearance on TalkSPORT last Friday, where he labelled Warburton’s initial decision to bar him from training for a week “strange”.
He is said to have been ordered away from the Gers until Monday and hinted at talks with manager Mark Warburton upon his return.
‘Neither party will make any further statement or comment on this issue’.
Barton insisted he was “as committed to Glasgow Rangers as the day I signed”, but also hinted at criticism of the way Warburton had handled the situation.
Joey Barton’s absence from Rangers’ starting XI in their 0-0 with Ross County was not up for discussion by boss Mark Warburton.
He told reporters: “It’s an internal matter that is being dealt with”.
“We didn’t crumble in front of 50,000 people and I don’t know how numerous lads had played in front of that sort of crowd before”. That’s our best 90-minute performance of the season.
Information from the Press Association was used in this report. After we exchanged views on the training ground we sat in the dressing room and spoke through it.

The Frenchman does not get the chance to play in front of his family often after spending his career with Swiss side Servette and Bradford before joining County in the summer. “I’ve been asked to re-evaluate the way I’m thinking, but I don’t think they’re going to change – I want Rangers to win! It means you value your relationship more than your ego”.
