US presidential debate rules out third party candidates
Democrats are particularly anxious that young voters are gravitating to Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein over Clinton.

Only two candidates will be on stage during the first presidential debate – Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. RealClearPolitics puts Johnson’s poll average at 8.6 percent.
“After all”, he said, “the Commission is a private organization created 30 years ago by the Republican and Democratic parties for the clear objective of taking control of the only nationally-televised presidential debates voters will see”.
The third-party candidates didn’t register enough support in various polls to qualify, the commission said Friday.
We’re talking about the third party presidential candidates: Libertarian Gary Johnson and Jill Stein of the Green Party. They’ll need to earn votes quickly: According to USA Today, the second presidential debate is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 9 at Washington University in St. Louis. Mike Pence of IN and Democratic Sen. On Friday, Johnson spokesman Joe Hunter said “that was not an absolute statement”, and that the campaign would “keep doing what we’re doing” in the hope of being included in one of the October debates.
The commission, citing the averages the various candidates have achieved in selected polls, confirmed that Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton had met the criteria. “At the time of its creation, the leaders of those two parties made no effort to hide the fact that they didn’t want any third party intrusions into their shows”.
Stein told WBAL NewsRadio 1090 that she believes the debate system is rigged to favor the major political parties and she called on her supporters to protest.
What’s driving your Election Day ballot to Johnson or Stein? “No other candidates satisfied the criteria for inclusion in the September 26 and October 4 debates”.

In an op-ed by Stein in The Guardian on September 6, she wrote that excluding Johnson and her from the debates was “undemocratic” and that the CPD was “phony”.
