Chun In Gee extended her lead to four strokes with a third-round 65 to move to 19 under at the Evian Championship in France.

South Korean Sung Hyun Park, who shared the overnight lead with Chun, juggled three bogeys and six birdies in a round of 68, tying her for second place with Shanshan Feng – China’s only major victor.

Karen Stupples won the Women’s British Open with a score of 19-under in 2004, which Inbee Park matched in the 2015 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

Chun had a strong back nine with three birdies and an eagle to finish four clear of compatriot Sung Hyun Park.

Shanshan Feng of China (69) is solo third and six shots back at 13-under par while So Yeon Ryu (69) is at 12-under par in solo fourth.

Defending champion Lydia Ko of New Zealand had a bad day, making six bogeys in a 4-over 75, and was 19 shots behind Chun in a tie for 36th.

Ko and Jutanugarn are trying to win the Annika Major Award, rewarding the major victor with the best combined record at all five majors of the season. Park seemed unfazed after the round about the deficit and said that her last two wins on the KLPGA were come-from-behind victories with the last one at the Hanwa Finance Classic earlier this month coming from four shots behind.

“You know, there’s a lot of young players coming out, but I still have something to improve, and I wanted to focus on that rather than so much about consequences”.

Sung Hyun Park, also from Korea and also 22, has played little golf in the USA but has been dominant on the Korean LPGA Tour in 2016.

“Usually by Friday this course has killed me”, Stanford said.

But Brittany Lang, the US Women’s Open champion, won’t be collecting a second major this year.

“I hadn’t even woken up”.

“The game plan for tomorrow is just to keep doing the same thing”, said 22-year-old Chun, who is in her first year on the LPGA Tour. “I just want to keep enjoying what I am doing”.
