Bombing suspect charged with attempted murder
Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, appeared conscious, his upper right arm bandaged and bloodied, as he was loaded into an ambulance in Linden. Both New Jersey Transit and Amtrak warned of train delays after the incident. Rahami was shot several times outside an auto fix shop several blocks west of the bar.

On Sunday at about 9:30 p.m. a backpack with multiple bombs inside was found in a wastebasket outside a neighborhood pub in Elizabeth.
With Rahami’s arrest, officials said they have no indication there are more bombs or suspects to find, though they cautioned that they are still investigating.
Rahami was initially identified Monday morning as a person wanted for questioning in connection to a bombing in Chelsea on Saturday that resulted in 29 people being injured.
Neighbors had complained to Elizabeth officials that the Rahamis’ restaurant was a late-night nuisance, Democratic Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage said. None of the officers suffered life-threatening injuries.
“He looked like a bum”, Mr Mazza said.
A pipe bomb also exploded Saturday in a New Jersey shore town ahead of a 5K run.
“Tonight, New York City experienced a very bad incident”, de Blasio said at a news conference near the scene.
At that time, he told immigration officials he was visiting family and attending his uncle’s wedding and renewing his Pakistani visa.
According to a report given to a journalist by a neighbor, Rahami’s father was recently seen in the family’s backyard “hauling gear into his backyard, dousing it with lighter fluid, and setting it on fire”.
A bullet struck an officer in the vest and another went through the windshield of a police cruiser, grazing a second officer, who was called to the scene as back-up, in the forehead, Linden Police Department Captain James Sarnicki said.
Although authorities initially feared that a larger terror cell may have been responsible for the placement of explosives at two locations in New Jersey and on two separate streets in downtown NY, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and NY officials appeared to discount that possibility Monday, saying that no other suspects were being pursued. Hammer said he also has a daughter who’s a veteran of the Coast Guard.
The suspect was taken by ambulance to a local hospital following his capture in Linden, New Jersey, about 32 kilometres outside NY.
Federal, state and city public safety officials said on Monday afternoon that they were not now actively seeking more people in the current terror probe.
Charles Mulham, a retired special agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said when the exploding targets were first developed, he was anxious about the easy availability of the compounds.
“You can hear a collective sigh of relief from All New Yorkers and deep appreciation to the men and women who protect us each and every day”, said U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-Manhattan).
The fact that different materials were found in different explosives suggests that the suspected bomber likely acquired the materials online or simply used whatever was readily available, he said. But authorities have not drawn any connection between the bloodshed there and the bombings. As robots worked to dismantle them, one exploded suddenly.
The bombings came as NY hosts world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly this week. In 2011, they filed a lawsuit accusing the city of discrimination. “I’ll bet you that’s why he was on no list”.
