A look at what’s happening in the Big Ten this weekend

There’s been a lot of close recent games between these two schools, but this is easily the best MI team we’ve seen in quite some time. “The defense helped out tremendously in that game, and I couldn’t have done it without them”.

Because OU’s administrators have rented out the Noble Center, the on-campus basketball facility, so Ohio State fans can hold a pregame pep rally, Eight hundred OSU fans will eat and drink at the hour-and-a-half “Buckeye Bash”, which will end approximately an hour before tonight’s kick-off. Redshirt freshman running back Mike Weber had a huge game, rushing for 123 yards. Quarterback J.T. Barrett is a senior, but the offensive skill positions are mostly dominated by underclassmen. On two kickoff returns, he had 81 yards and a career-long 55-yard return.

FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman reported that the two players had been given the awards after their games against Pittsburgh and Colorado respectively. Man, the Badgers nearly blew it last week in a near loss to Georgia State. Time to see what the young Buckeyes can do in a hostile environment. The Spartans looked dominant at times, bouncing out of an early 7-0 hole with 36 straight points in the second and third quarters. Nebraska has a challenging weekend ahead, with road games at Ohio State and Penn State.

I also love the fact that a team can come together after losing one of their own and rally as a family to do something great.

The race for the Big Ten East looks like it will come down to a November 26 clash between MI and the Buckeyes. College football seems to fly by every year and we are left waiting for the next season to begin. If the defensive line can be disruptive, Prukop and the Ducks could be in for a tussle in Lincoln.

The matchup is one of the Nittany Lions’ three games this year against Big Ten West division foes.

It’s good practice to read the weekly college recap from Pro Football Focus. In fact, what do we make of the AAC’s showing in Week 3?

Another Wunderlich field goal pulled the Rebels within 34-30, but Hurts (158 passing yards and a game-high 146 rushing) again engineered a touchdown drive, starting with a 41-yard run on the first play of the possession. The unfortunate thing about that is the Hawkeyes just lost to North Dakota State, an FCS team.

Two weeks after beating Northwestern on the road, the Broncos embarrassed IL with a 34-10 win in Champaign. The offense ranks fourth in the nation with 53 points a game. And while the Wildcats’ win Saturday over Duke gave the conference another victory in Power Five vs. Power Five football, it comes on the heels of two brutal season-opening losses to Western Michigan and Illinois State.

Wisconsin seeks its first win at Spartan Stadium since 2002, while Michigan State will look to extend a four-game home win streak over the Badgers after scoring victories in 2004, 2008, 2010 and 2011.

And moving forward, more colossal matchups await. Granted, an 11-1 team that defeats, let’s say a 12-0 Ohio State in the B1G Championship, could be hard to keep out of the top 4. But the lack of an identity, or a top 10 program, is likely to dog the conference for the balance of the season.
