A separate report from AP claims that we’ll finally get to meet these Pixel and Pixel XL phones on October 4. A report in the Telegraph had earlier highlighted that Google plans to introduce smartphone with its own branding, and wants to challenge the perception that only Apple’s iPhone is viewed as a premium device.

According to Android Central Google is expected to market the devices under a different name which lean more heavily on the Google name.
Google’s Nexus program launched in 2010 with the Nexus One, which was manufactured by HTC.
PC Advisor has done some more research on the rumors and has gathered that the upcoming phones will be more expensive than the previous models. Android Police calls its source on this leak “exceptionally reliable”, so the death of the Nexus line may be all but certain.
Apart from the difference in size, it is said that there is going to be very little difference between the two Nexus phones, with only resolution and power being the other factors that vary.
There’s also no mention of whether the smaller Pixel phone (codenamed Sailfish) will offer the same cameras. However, both the phones stand for Google’s attempt at putting a stamp on the flagship hardware of the company. “There’s a lot of software innovation to be had”, he said. Both devices are expected to run Google’s recently released Android 7.0 Nougat.
What are your thoughts on Google rebranding the devices? Google has control over the design as well as the marketing of the Nexus phones, whereas the manufacturing is left to some third parties, namely LG or Samsung and Huaweil.
The latest report has come after a similar report by Android Central, which also claimed that Google has chose to do away with Nexus branding for its collaborated phones.

Anyway, the report does not discount or imply that the previously rumored HTC-built Sailfish and Marlin phones are totally gone.
