Video Released Following Tulsa Police Shooting of Unarmed Man
Lewis declares. He calls for Shelby’s arrest, in lieu of a “paid vacation”, and is met with cheers and applause.

The video shows Crutcher drop to the ground. Hers read “Relationships Matter”. “We need to go back man, if we need to”.
ACLU of Oklahoma Executive Director Ryan Kiesel says Terence Crutcher’s death on Friday shows “how little regard” Tulsa police officers have for minority communities. Crutcher’s sister said she hopes the officer who pulled the trigger stands trial.
Footage from a police auto shows Terrence Crutcher with his arms raised, appearing to follow police directions.
The initial moments of Crutcher’s encounter with police are not shown in the footage. He is followed by four officers who surround him, making it hard to see exactly what happened. “We wanted to be able to have that intimate time with them, with their attorney, to see if they had any questions or concerns”. Someone can then be heard saying, “Shots fired”. “We have one suspect down”.
Community leaders also viewed the video before it was released.
The police chief admits the video is disturbing to watch and says Terence Crutcher was not armed.
Tulsa police now do not carry body cameras, so it is unlikely any additional footage of the shooting will be forthcoming. The known facts of this case, which are not in dispute, is that Crutcher was tasered by Officer Tyler Turnbough, then fatally shot by Officer Betty Shelby, and left lying in the street for nearly two minutes before officers approached him again.
“That looks like a bad dude, too”, one cop in the air says.
Police released the footage Monday. “That big bad dude was a father. That big ‘bad dude, ‘ that’s who he was”, she added.
The 40-year-old man is standing away from the officers on the drivers’ side of his vehicle when one officer fires a stun gun and another fires a single, fatal shot.
Crutcher died at the hospital where he was taken after he was shot Friday.
As noted from the transcript, Betty is called “down” – but then Shelby is called a “big girl” by someone else in the helicopter. So I guess it’s a crime now to be a big black man. Big bad dudes, and I don’t know what they mean because they didn’t know who Terence Crutcher was.
Another officer who perceived the same threat discharged his Taser simultaneously, Wood said.
Protests are already taking place in Tulsa following the incident. They also chanted, “Hands up, don’t shoot”.
Tulsa resident Mark Whited, who was among the protesters, said more should be done to “bridge the mistrusts” between police and citizens.
We will probably never know what words were exchanged between the cops and Crutcher because even though the Tulsa Police Department was supposed to receive a $600,000 match grant a year ago for body cameras, they say none of the officers were wearing a camera that day.
Goss said the public should respond with reason, not violence. There was no gun on Crutcher or in the SUV, the police chief confirmed. Authorities haven’t said whether he had a weapon.
The footage is expected to be released during a news conference Monday afternoon.
Oklahoma police initially said Terence Crutcher would not comply, which is why he had to die, never mind the fact that his only crime was driving a vehicle that had stalled in the middle of the street, which, of course, is not a crime.
The World reports that police have released few details on the shooting, but a spokesperson said Crutcher refused to follow officers’ orders.
