President Barack Obama, who arrived in New York City on Sunday, is scheduled to speak at the 71st session of the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, his final address to the chamber as the USA president. Two officers were shot, one in the hand and the other in a bullet-proof vest, he said. An Associated Press reporter went to the building that houses the family’s restaurant and home, but it was cordoned off.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo says investigators have no reason to believe that there are further threats, but the public should “be on constant guard”.

Police and firefighters are at the scene of a possible explosion in New York City, and authorities say 25 people suffered minor injuries. He says the president also expressed appreciation for the work of first responders.

This morning, both men will be singing a different tune.

Ahmad Khan Rahami was taken into custody in Linden, N.J. Monday morning.

It wasn’t clear when the Elizabeth station would be open, a threat to cause major issues on the Monday morning commute into NY. He says the Federal Bureau of Investigation and state police will decide how to remove the device. The footage showed Rahami move his head from side to side and his eyes open.

Earlier on Saturday, a pipe bomb exploded in New Jersey, forcing the cancellation of a military charity 5K run.

On Monday, a device found in a backpack near a train station in New Jersey exploded while a bomb squad robot was trying to disarm it, authorities said. That device detonated, but no one was injured.

As the investigation continued into the blast that injured 29 people in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood on Saturday night, the FBI questioned five people early Monday following a auto stop in Brooklyn.

Around the time Rahami was captured, President Barack Obama was in NY on a previously scheduled visit for a meeting of the U.N. General Assembly. He says Obama will comment publicly “relatively soon”.

A 28-year-old naturalized USA citizen from Afghanistan was being sought Monday for questioning in connection with a weekend explosion in New York City, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said. He is a naturalized citizen from Afghanistan.

“Today’s information suggests it may be foreign related, but we’ll see where it goes”, Cuomo told the AP.

“What we didn’t know yesterday, and we don’t know yet, is: Is anyone taking credit for it and is it linked to global terrorism?” All have been released from a hospital.

NY officials acknowledged Monday that the bombs found in NY and New Jersey over the weekend are likely deliberate acts of terrorism that might have worldwide connections.

Security had already been tightened in the city for the ongoing UN General Assembly, but the presence of officers throughout New York City after the blast will be “bigger than ever”, de Blasio said.

While officials described the weekend bombs and the Minnesota attack as deliberate, criminal acts and said they were investigating them as potential acts of terrorism, they stopped short of characterizing the motivation behind any of them until more evidence is uncovered.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations, a national Muslim advocacy group, welcomed Rahami’s arrest.
