Giants Defeat Saints 16-13, 2-0 For First Time Since ’09
“It wasn’t pretty, but we got the job done as a defence”.

Seemingly, these Saints have been subject to paradoxical results. The Giants defeated the Saints 16-13.
Giants receiver Victor Cruz, left, hauls in a pass defended by the Saints’ Ken Crawley, right, during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium. Last week New Orleans lost a 35-34 thriller to the Raiders, but Drew Brees was putting up video game type numbers in the defeat.
But in addition to that play, Jenkins was a key part of the Giants’ pass coverage that kept the Saints’ speedy receivers in check.
Steve Spagnuolo, who coordinated the Saints defense in 2012 and was promptly fired, was coordinating the Giants offense against the Saints. “Be the best team every week and we’re just hoping that these games don’t come back to bite us”. Saints’ defense was surprisingly decent. “So we’ve got to be desperate, man”.
The Giants were doomed by turnovers in the first half, fumbling on three straight possessions in the second quarter. On third down, Jordan tipped a Manning pass to the ground, forcing Brown to kick an 18-yard field goal to make it 13-10 with 8:46 to play in the game.
“We knew it was going to be a hard-fought game”, said Saints quarterback Drew Brees. There is no reason to think that the Saints will buck that trend, despite a very good defensive effort. “We thought we could get one because the wings open up wide and then turn their backs, so our special-teams coach preached all week that we could possibly get a blocked field goal, and it happened”.
The point total may not reflect it, but Eli Manning played a great game for the Giants. “It’s tough to overcome something like that when you’re playing a game that ended up being different than what many expected”. When you play 79 plays, not including the penalties and everything but 79 graded plays, that’s a lot of plays.
Jenkins, who signed a five-year, $62.5 million deal with $29 million guaranteed with the Giants this offseason, had a major impact in Sunday’s 16-13 win over the Saints.
Dating back to 1990, teams that start 0-2 have the odds heavily stacked against them.
But Harper spent his past two NFL seasons with another team – defending NFC champion Carolina – which has been among the league’s best since its seven-game winless streak in 2014. Starter Rashad Jennings had rushed for just 25 yards on 12 carries at that point. The good news is the Saints held the Giants to 64 yards rushing on 32 carries, and are 1 disgusting 70 yard run by the Raiders from having 2 very solid weeks against the run.
The Giant D-Line that consists of Jason Pierre-Paul, Olivier Vernon, Jonathan Hankins and Damon Harrison won the battle in the trenches and will make things hard on the Saints revamped offensive line this week. Coincidentally, that 20-9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 21, 2014 was the last win the Saints had in September.

So where do the Saints go from here? But he made up for it when it mattered most, playing in his first home game since October 5, 2014. Eli Manning and Odell Beckham of Newman faced their hometown team. I hate 2016 football so much right now.
