Saints cornerback P.J. Williams suffers concussion, avoids more serious injury
Last year, the Giants yielded an unwieldy 608 total yards to New Orleans, including 505 passing yards and seven touchdown passes by quarterback Drew Brees. We just gotta win the next one and that’s what we’ve focused on.

Both offenses squandered away opportunities. Eli Manning hit Victor Cruz with a 34-yard bomb down the right sideline on third-and-8 with 1:29 remaining.
From 23 yards out, it was a chip shot for Giants. The Saints wide receiver ran up the seam and was open in the end zone between safeties Darian Thompson and Landon Collins.
It was the first time the Giants have returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown since 2008.
“That shouldn’t be something we’re discussing in Week 2 of the season”, said Saints head coach Sean Payton of the blocked field goal.
Of course, good teams find ways to win tough games.
Josh Brown is a hero again to many New York Giants’ fans.
“He fought for that ball, for us to win that game, and that’s what this team is about right now: fighting and finishing”, Giants offensive lineman Justin Pugh said of Cruz, whose three-yard touchdown catch was the victor in the team’s Week 1 victory over the Cowboys.
On Sunday, the Saints finished with 288 total yards of offense, including 263 passing yards by Brees, who threw one touchdown pass.
If you believe in the eyeball test after the first two weeks, the Giants might have arguably the best defense in the NFC East.
“Yes, we play (Washington)”, Beckham said.
The Saints defense forced three Giants fumbles in the first half – all recovered by the Saints – but couldn’t convert them to points. But, when it mattered the most, they made a huge mistake. “That’s a good quarterback out there and everybody knows that. Have to get the offense the ball back”.
“Going two straight months in Carolina my first year there without winning a game was very frustrating to me”. “This was a big day, and I wanted to start off really strong, I would like to have that 53-yarder back, but that’s part of it”. Williams was removed from the field on a head board, his neck stabilized.
Williams was diagnosed with a concussion, Gilmore said, and will have to go through the NFL’s concussion protocol before he can resume practicing or playing. The Fox broadcast reported that Williams had movement in his extremities.
“The sudden change defense was awesome yesterday”, coach Ben McAdoo said today on a conference call.
Despite their 0-2 start, the Saints are far from out of it. Brees was 15-of-22 but for just 108 yards in the first half. On the very next play, Michael Mauti sacked Manning, he fumbled and Paul Kruger recovered at the NY 25-yard line.

The Giants’ defense sacked Brees twice and put enough pressure on him to get the ball out a lot quicker than he wanted. Sunday was the first career game for the 2015 fifth round pick who missed last season with a torn Achilles tendon. The cornerback noted that special teams coordinator Tom Quinn had stressed all week that the team could get a block on the Saints. Newhouse also left wearing a boot on his foot after the Giants said he had a calf injury. Giants RB Rashad Jennings suffered a right hand injury, the severity of which is unknown.
