Forensics experts are continuing to comb through evidence from the Manhattan bombing, which was described by witnesses as a deafening blast that shattered windows and hit bystanders with shrapnel.

Obama added that investigators saw “no connection” at this moment between the bombings in New Jersey and NY and a stabbing in Minnesota.

Obama says the country is “extremely fortunate” nobody was killed in the bombings.

According to the report, Rahami is a naturalized USA citizen of Afghan descent, and his last-known address was in New Jersey. Authorities were looking for him to question him about the bombings.

We did a traffic stop of a vehicle of interest in the investigation.

An Islamic State-run news agency claimed the suspect was a “soldier of the Islamic State” who had heeded calls from the extremist group for attacks in countries that are part of a US-led anti-IS coalition.

Federal authorities believe that the explosion in Chelsea, where another explosive device was found nearby, was linked to as many as six explosive devices found just outside NY in Elizabeth, Homeland Security officials told Reuters.

These statements differ significantly from what officials had said previously.

Rahami pulled a gun and shot the officer – who was wearing a bulletproof vest – in the torso, and more officers joined in a running gun battle along the street and brought Rahami down, police Capt. James Sarnicki said.

The 1,000 additional security personnel will be deployed to bus terminals, airports and subway stations throughout the state.

Boyce said the two men were seen picking up the bag containing the device, removing it and then leaving with the bag, for reasons that remains unclear. He says the president also expressed appreciation for the work of first responders.

This morning, both men will be singing a different tune.

New York City’s mayor and police commissioner also say no other suspects are being sought at this time.

He said the Union County bomb squad’s robotic device indicated the package could be a live bomb, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and state police will decide how to remove the device.

Authorities are seeking 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami, a naturalized US citizen from Afghanistan.

Sweeney said five suspects taken into custody late on Sunday in Brooklyn after they had been observed in a vehicle at a location associated with Rahami had been released without charge.

The discovery of Tannerite in materials recovered from the Saturday night explosion may be important as authorities probe whether the blast was connected to an unexploded pressure-cooker device found by state troopers just blocks away, as well as a pipe bomb blast in a New Jersey shore town earlier in the day.

One of those devices exploded on 23rd Street, but the fact that it was partly under a metal trash container may have diminished the force of the blast.

“I would not be surprised if we did have a foreign connection to the act”, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told CNN Monday morning.

Spokesman Josh Earnest said Obama will comment publicly later Monday. Now, this is a normal protocol for the U.N. General Assembly. He is a naturalized citizen from Afghanistan.

“Todays information suggests it may be foreign related but well see where it goes”, Cuomo told another TV channel.

“People didn’t know what was going on, and that’s what was scary”, said Anthony Zayas, an actor who was in the Chelsea neighbourhood Saturday night when the bomb went off.
