ATLANTA (AP) – Lines formed at gas stations across the South on Saturday and drivers who were able to find fuel had to pay more for it in some cases, as prices edged up following a pipeline spill in Alabama. The 25-year-old woman, who was hit seven times, was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. Saturday, police said.

While investigators have not detailed a motive in the shootings, Glenn allegedly left a “rambling” note filled with anti-police at the scene, police said.

Sylvia Young was shot up to eight times, multiple times in her protective vest, late Friday night. “I had the opportunity to be with both police officers this evening, and their families”.

In other violence around the city, a 22-year-old man was critically injured when he was shot in the back 10 times and three women were also hit by gunfire in a parking lot shared by two nightclubs in northeast Philadelphia around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. She was struck quite a few times.

Detectives are investigating whether Glenn was linked to or inspired by outside groups or accomplices, but so far there is no evidence that he did not act alone, Ross said.

The shooter took off on foot and approached a bar, where he shot a security guard in the leg.

As word came out on the shootings, local and national figures began tweeting on it, including Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams, who wrote: “Please keep the @PhillyPolice SGT, @PennDPS P/O shot tonight their families, friends & co-workers in your prayers as they deal w/ trauma”.

He discharged further rounds into a vehicle, striking a man and woman inside, police said.

Police said that at about midnight Saturday, officers noticed two men apparently smoking marijuana on South Street, an area packed with restaurants, shops and clubs. Police say officers will be riding two to a auto until further notice.

Commissioner Richard Ross commended officers for their restraint during their pursuit and for not injuring any civilians.
