A major growth area in the renewable space is solar energy.
It will also ensure that the future projects do not impact reliability of the grid and is cost-effective.
Alberta is Canada’s biggest greenhouse gas polluter, the result of both its energy-intensive oil sands production and its reliance on coal-fired power stations. Both trail far behind California, which has almost 14,000 megawatts of solar capacity and installed 3,200 megawatts previous year alone.
U.S. Interior Secretary Sally Jewell on Wednesday approved the first phase of the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP), a framework for California’s development of renewable energy projects on 10.8 million acres managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
Moreover, NextEra Energy Resources expects to bring on line almost 2,800-5,400 MW of new renewable projects over the 2017-2018 timeframe.
An AESO spokeswoman said Wednesday it had received grid connection requests as of September 1 for 21 proposed solar projects generating a total of 681 MW and for 28 wind power projects producing 4,646 MW.
By 2025 FPL’s forecasted summer peak load is projected to be reduced by more than 1,800 megawatts and its annual energy consumption by more than 8,700 gigawatt hours, FPL said in its report.
The three new solar energy centers – located in Manatee, DeSoto and Charlotte counties – in addition to several commercial-scale installations, will produce a total of more than 225 new solar megawatts in 2016.
Solar projects, such as the Perry and Osceola facilities, enable the company to efficiently bring the greatest amount of renewable energy on line for customers in the most economical way.
Today, Zacks Equity Research discusses the Alternative Energy, including JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. While Spark Energy and Korea Electric Power sport a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy), DTE Energy carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
