Addressing the media after the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the friendship between India and Nepal time-tested and unique.

Three agreements signed on Friday include a $750 million credit line in aid for reconstruction work relating to the deadly natural disaster that devastated Nepal past year.

Dahal, who had arrived New Delhi on Thursday, urged the entrepreneurs to be confident of their investment in Nepal.

He had earlier sent his Deputy Prime Ministers Bimalendra Nidhi and Krishna Bahadur Mahara as special envoys to India and China to maintain cordial relations with the neighbours.

He said, “I can not give you a time line yet, but it will be soon surely and after that, it will become a historical Constitution’ for Nepal”.

On Friday morning, Dahal is scheduled to receive a guard of honor at India’s presidential residence, where he is meeting Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.

Political analysts say while rebuilding ties with India, Nepal will also continue to cultivate China, which has invested millions of dollars to help the country build roads, hospitals and other infrastructure.

The $750-million credit line is over and above the $1 billion aid that India announced following the devastating quake in the Himalayan nation last April that claimed over 8,000 lives.

India and Nepal also signed three agreements to improve trade and transit issues.

He also thanked the Indian Government for the prompt and extensive assistance provided to Nepal in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes of April 25 and May12, 2015. “It is the politicians’ understanding that without keeping India in good humour they can not remain long in power”, said Mr Guna Raj Luitel, editor of the Nagarik daily.

Prime Minister Prachanda was earlier welcomed at the Forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan by Mr. Modi and the two held wide-ranging discussions.

On Saturday, Prachanda said his government will take on board all sections of the Nepalese society in implementing the constitution, adding “we will accommodate legitimate demands within the framework of the Constitution”.
