On Monday, a device found in a backpack near the Elizabeth train station exploded while a bomb squad robot was trying to disarm it, authorities said.

Two men discovered the backpack in the trash at around 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Donald Trump is again taking credit for predicting current events after he had announced that the cause of Saturday’s explosion in NY was a bomb before authorities had publicly said so. There were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage.

Mr Bollwage warned that other explosions were expected.

The arrest came just hours after police issued a bulletin and photo of Rahami, a naturalized US citizen from Afghanistan with an address in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

The investigation into the series of bombs that rocked NY and New Jersey has been centered on Elizabeth today, where federal authorities conducted a raid on Rahami’s apartment above a fried chicken restaurant on Elmora Avenue.

No one was injured in the blast that followed a series of attacks in the United States over the weekend, including a Saturday night bombing that hurt 29 people in Manhattan.

The FBI released a wanted poster for Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, a naturalized USA citizen of Afghan descent. He is a naturalised citizen from Afghanistan, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said.

Five devices were found near the train station.

Service has since been restored to both NJ Transit and Amtrak with delays.

Bombs were also found at the Elizabeth train station on Sunday.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, while speaking on Good Morning America Monday praised the NYPD’s response to the threat, and said the department had “the largest anti-terror force of any police force in the country”.

And last night, five explosive devices were found near an Elizabeth, New Jersey, train station.

The blast came as five men were detained and questioned over a bomb attack in NY on Saturday night, which left 29 injured.

Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage said that the device exploded shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday.

Authorities said they are searching for Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, in connection to the explosion in Chelsea on Saturday night.

Police found out that the two men had handled the device only when they looked at surveillance video.

Around 1 a.m. Monday, an explosion was heard near the train station in Elizabeth.

Bollwage said to expect more detonations.

As many as 29 people were injured after a blast in Chelsea district of Manhattan, New York, yesterday, while a second bomb that was discovered almost four blocks away was defused successfully by the bomb disposal squad. Authorities acknowledged publicly that they believe the bomb incidents in Seaside Park, Chelsea and Elizabeth are connected.

“I don’t know what they are made up of but they are going to have to be removed and all the fragments from the other pieces are going to have to be picked up so the FBI can investigate this fully”. It wasn’t immediately known if the blast was a controlled explosion. Amtrak trains heading to NY were held in Trenton early Monday.
