The new Home button on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is arguably nothing short of a technological wonder, but come wintertime, every owner out there might start singing a different tune.
The iPhone 7 is making its way to customers, and YouTuber Marques Brownlee recently unboxed the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, showing off one of the device’s new features – the ability to “meet the new Home Button”. They’ve actually existing for a while now, letting you operate your smartphone’s touchscreen while keeping your gloves on, and now you’ll need them if you want to use your new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus’s home button with your gloves on, too. Since the Touch ID sensor requires skin contact to scan a fingerprint, it seems that’s what’s being used to determine if the button is being “pressed”. However, the problem can be eradicated through the purchasing of capacitive gloves. Some early reviews of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus suggest that it’s quite hard to get used to. If so, feel free to drop by our comments section below and let us know. Because you can no longer physically push the button down, you’re out of luck with gloves.
It is possible that maybe Apple fix this by issuing a software that amps up the sensitivity of the home button, but for now it is a mixed bag of results from users who have tried using the phone even with touchscreen-friendly gloves. And with the new lock screen in iOS 10, there’s no way to bring up the passcode screen without pressing the Home button.
