FIR filed against DCW chief Swati Maliwal by ACB over recruitment scam
The complaint against Maliwal, filed by former DCW chief Barkha Singh, alleged that 85 people were given jobs without requisite credentials. “We have been given one week’s time to answer back all the questions”, she added.

A team comprising five ACB officers reached Ms Maliwal’s office at 11 am.
The BJP Delhi unit on Tuesday said it will urge Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung to dismiss Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal after she was booked on various charges.
Defending herself, Maliwal stated that the DCW has handled over 11,500 cases within a year, thereby irking many with its efficiency. “I will keep asking questions as the DCW on a daily basis receives at least one case of gang-rape like the Nirbhaya case”. This is disturbing a lot of people. “During this period, the commission made no recommendation to the government and conducted only six visits despite having a staff of about 50 officers”, Maliwal had said.
The ACB questioned her for over two hours on Monday regarding allegations that she illegally recruited cadres from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to the commission.
Earlier, she had said the present strength of the commission is 80, as compared to 40 when she joined and that additional hands were hired to clear the backlog of cases from Singh’s tenure.
Maliwal said: “I am not scared even if I am arrested”.
“Got to know that an FIR has been registered”.
“These appointments are completely illegal and no procedures were followed”.
Maliwal counter-attacked the former DCW chief, saying that Singh had appointed “wives of IAS and IPS officers without giving an advertisement for recruitment. I am a follower of Laxmi Bai and Subhash Chandra Bose.I am not going be scared”, she said in a series of tweets. “One has to sacrifice to change the system”.
She also said that “if corruption of even Re 1 is proved, she would give up her life”. “But we have appointed members following due procedure”.
