WhatsApp adds tagging option in group chats
If you’re looking for peace and quite then the mute button is remarkably handy but a new update to WhatsApp means that it’s basically impossible to avoid people in group chats – even if the conversation is muted.

The new tagging feature works a little bit like Twitter.
Once tagged, you’re included along with multiple people in the messages – and those notifications will start pouring in. The obvious benefit of this feature is to keep a conversation alive in a group chat with multiple contacts. Interestingly, the displayed popup will have details of all contacts which aren’t saved in your phone book but are part of the group.
Speaking of iOS, some Apple users gained the ability to send, receive and more importantly, view GIFs in chat. Users can now quote messages in a group chat to make it clear which message they’re responding to. The Facebook-owned mobile messaging app also includes a reply button where you will be able to interact with your friends in one-to-one chat. You can also follow up the (@) symbol with an alphabet to directly select a particular person, or choose from the list of possible names you can tag in that group. And features that are already there in the beta version of WhatsApp for Windows Phone. This feature will surely be welcomed by many, who were awaiting it since long. While reply button sounds more useful and practical, the tagging feature fails to prove its importance.
The snooper also recently revealed that bots might make their way onto WhatsApp too, thanks to this snippet from the new terms of service.

The announcement of the new update comes just after the news that WhatsApp beta for Windows Phone has been improved with the addition of a camera icon at the bottom of the Settings bar in the chat window.
