It’s hard to believe, but the Rogue is already one of Nissan’s oldest models.

The categories of change for Nissan’s second-best-selling model in the USA include exterior and interior styling, new convenience features, updated and upgraded safety options, plus the availability of first Rogue Hybrid. The non-hybrid Rogue continues last year’s 2.5-liter engine that gets approximately 5 mpg less than the hybrid models. Nissan’s hybrid Rogue will also feature an Idle Start/Stop system and Intelligent Regenerative Braking similar to the system you find in other hybrid vehicles. More than that, the Rogue Hybrid loses 0.2 cubic feet of space behind the front seats.

Also, using language from its Titan pickup which has a Platinum Reserve grade, a new Platinum Reserve package is available for Rogue SLs.

On the inside, in addition to trim finishes and cloth seating materials, the updated Rogue has an available heated steering wheel, memory seats, and mirrors.

José Muñoz, executive vice president of Nissan Motor Co. and chairman of Nissan North America unveiled the new Rogue and said, “Following three straight years of consecutive growth, we project Rogue will approach 300,000 units in the current fiscal year, almost doubling sales since 2012”.

Changes to the exterior include a new front fascia with Nissan’s V-motion grille, flanked by new quad-element headlamps with LED daytime running lights. The headlights have been redesigned, as has the rear end, which gets a tweak to the bumper and taillights. These models will also get 17-inch wheels, push-button start, a power driver seat, and remote start.

Despite reports it would peak at 28 mpg (8.4 L/100 km) combined, the ’17 Rogue Hybrid’s fuel economy is estimated to average 34 mpg (6.9 L/100 km) in a front-wheel-drive configuration and 33 mpg (7.1 L/100 km) in an all-wheel-drive layout. Nine exterior colors can be had, including Midnight Jade, Brilliant Silver, Gun Metallic, Magnetic Black, Pearl White, Glacier White and new Monarch Orange, Caspian Blue, and Palatial Ruby. New available advanced safety features include a lane departure warning system, a lane departure prevention feature, forward collision prevention, and adaptive cruise control.

Additionally, the Rogue model is part of the cross-promotional advertising for this winter’s Star Wars: Rogue One film. SL models add leather, Bose audio, and navigation.

For a finishing touch, Nissan has made a decision to revise its available optional equipment packages for 2017 with three fresh choices – Sun and Sound Touring, Platinum, and Platinum Reserve.
