Jolla Tablet now available for pre-order

Unlike competing models, Jolla Tablet doesn’t run Android; instead, it is loaded with Jolla’s own Sailfish OS 2.0 platform.

Finnish manufacturer Jolla has officially started taking pre-orders for its first tablet, several months after it launched a campaign on Indiegogo to raise funds for the product.

Jolla Tablet pre-orders have gone live, the company behind it has announced. The tablet is made to be both stylish and minimalist, and Jolla promises that it offers a “superb, previously unseen user experience”.

The Jolla Tablet prototype was showcased earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in March, it did get some attention in the media and many did ask where they could purchase one.

Created by a team of former Nokia engineers and developers, the slim 8.3mm thin tablet features a 1.8 GHz quad core Intel Baytrail processor, a 4450mAh battery, 5 megapixel and 2 megapixel front and rear-facing cameras, 2GB of RAM and a 7.85-inch 2048 by 1536 pixel display that is fully laminated. Since then we’ve received many requests from consumers to buy the Jolla Tablet. Jolla brags that Sailfish brings with it the top “multitasking experience” available, and that users are handed total control for managing their running apps, toggling betwixt different apps, and more. Jolla values privacy, which is why Sailfish OS 2.0 is totally independent. If you’ve since had your interest piqued by the Jolla Tablet, you can now pre-order a unit of your very own. Pricing will vary depending on the market, though Jolla says the 32GB model will set customers back €267 (around $300), with the 64GB version priced at €299 (around $336).
