Carlos Carrasco, the Indians’ No. 2 starting pitcher, will miss the rest of the season after breaking his right hand when hit by a line drive off the bat of Detroit’s Ian Kinsler on the second pitch of a 1-0, 10-inning victory over the Tigers.

The Tigers don’t like when opposing pitchers throw inside, and they typically bark or glare when their players get hit, regardless of circumstance.
Miguel Cabrera had two hits and needs one to reach 2,500. You could tell there was no intent, but I understand why guys were getting aggravated. But if you can’t command the ball inside, you’ve got to maybe not go inside. As the game went on I think he started to get a headache where he got hit.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said he didnt think Bauer was trying to hit anyone on objective, but didnt like the results. “Because they’re all going to pitch, and we’re going to win,”‘ Francona said “I mean, Carrasco aside, that was a fun game to be a part of”.

Bauer’s wildness seemed to focus the Tigers from that point on. He later scored on a single by Erick Aybar, blowing past third base coach Dave Clark’s stop sign.

The first baseman was hit on the left hand by a pitch in the first inning but remained in the game. Hendricks leads the majors with a 2.03 ERA and took a no-hit bid into the ninth inning in his last start at St. Louis.
Bauer wasn’t trying to hit any of the three. “We’re getting him looked at right now”.
Ausmus said Kinsler, who committed a fielding error at second base in the fifth, showed symptoms later in the game.

Bauer’s unusual afternoon grew worse when he allowed a massive 2-run shot to Justin Upton in the fifth inning. Tigers RHP Justin Verlander has struck out at least one batter in 312 consecutive games.

The Tigers bullpen gave up a run – Alex Wilson allowing a homer – but got a five-out performance from Shane Greene and four-out save from Francisco Rodriguez to hold on for the win.
