Emmy ratings set another record low

Host Jimmy Kimmel also pulled no punches, at one point referring to Trump’s wife Melania as “Malaria”.

Bush’s brief appearance came at the end of a skit parodying Emmy-nominated shows including “Modern Family”, “Veep” and “The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”. Hosting the Emmys for a second time, Kimmel hit all the right notes with a biting opener. HBO’s Game of Thrones literally dominated the grand 2016 Emmys Awards as it wins 11 Emmys Awards, which includes the award of Outstanding Drama Series.

The final episode of Downton Abbey was broadcast earlier this year after six series.

During one pause in the trophy conveyor belt, Kimmel managed to make a freakish moment of things rarely combined – peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches, the TV show “Stranger Things” and O.J. Simpson. “I feel the Emmys have been overly generous to me”, she wrote.

After accepting the award, Louis-Dreyfus joked that she wanted to apologize for the current political climate.

She ended by chanting, “Topple the patriarchy”. Within seconds Soloway’s line was trending on Twitter. Jeffrey Tambor’s trophy as top comedy actor for “Transparent” also was his second.

“To you people out there, you producers and you network owners and you agents and you creative sparks: Please give transgender talent a chance”. Police spokeswoman Jeanne MacKenzie said earlier that officers had found a vehicle in the middle of the road and as they approached, Crutcher walked out of the woods and “refused to follow commands given by the officers”.

As always, last night’s 68 annual ceremony sparked much debate over who got to make that trip to the podium and who had to display their best gracious loser face.

There were further successes too for The People VS OJ Simpson which won the award for Outstanding Limited Series and The Voice, which snapped up the title of Outstanding Reality Competition Series.

Kimmel also mocked Dame Maggie Smith in his opening monologue for never coming to the Emmys.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus of “Veep” received a record-breaking sixth Emmy Award as best comedy series actress Sunday, using her victory to take a dig at GOP contender Donald Trump in a ceremony loaded with election-year asides.

Sarah Paulson, wearing an emerald green dress, won her first Emmy, after five nominations, as best actress in a limited series or movie for portraying Marcia Clark, the former district attorney from the O.J. case who accompanied the actress to the ceremony. (And who could be cruel enough to object, after she revealed that her father died Friday?) That was followed by another repeat victor, Jeffrey Tambor forTransparent, but in his case any other result would have been a miscarriage of justice.
