United broke the world transfer record to bring Pogba, 23, back to the club from Juventus last month in a deal worth an initial 89 million pounds ($115.7 million, 103.7 million euros).
Raiola, who also oversaw the transfers of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba to Old Trafford over the summer, believes Zlatan’s presence at Man United aligns perfectly with the club’s rhetoric. “I think on Sunday character … needs to shine through because it’s unacceptable to lose three games in a row”.
“So the form will come naturally and will come with the team improving. The team improves, he will improve – no problem”.
The Premier League side were in Europa League action on Thursday night,
However, Mourinho is not concerned at the France midfielder’s performances.
“It’s been a little bit of a struggle for him so far”, said Scholes, now a pundit for BT Sport. Pogba was in front of the ball most of the time anyway. Its still very early days. I always feel that my job is that I am an extra source of motivation, but the motivation belongs to the players. Hes running with the ball.
“Beforehand I said to the boys, “If we go all out and they play five per cent less then we can win”.
“No, no – I think he showed some class today”, he said smiling when asked if the Frenchman was still in his back pocket.
“The thing about United is that they only know one way to play”, he added.
“They had taken my player Sergio Romero and we had kept the lines of communication open. He’s got skill, he can pass it forward, he can run”.
