When asked by Complex Sports if he thought the protests would transfer over to the National Basketball Association, newly acquired Thunder guard Victor Oladipo said he believes so.

To all you people who believe it’s freedom of speech to burn the American flag or to not stand while our National Anthem is playing should think twice before acting. Because at the end of the day it’s a sport, and people are gonna be looking at some guys in the National Basketball Association to see what they’regonna do as well. I tell them the same thing.

They also say the protests show a lack of respect for our country, the men and women in our armed forces, and the police. “I think having these conversations helps everybody have a better understanding of where everybody else is coming from”. I’m for it being used, in every way we can, to support the great contributors in our society – that is people that have supported America, and the flag … Obviously the raw emotion that returns each 9/11 was a key component, but so were the cameras panning to professional football players taking a stance by kneeling, sitting or raising clenched fists high in protest.

San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke reportedly wants quarterback Colin Kaepernick out of San Francisco, but first-year head coach Chip Kelly wants to keep the former second-round pick, according to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole.

“While we respect Brandon’s right of expression his actions are not a representation of our organization and membership”, President and CEO of AAFCU Glenn Strebe said in an official statement. Will NBA players decide to boycott the National Anthem as several NFL players have?

When asked whether there was anything the league could do to win back his viewership, Woods shut them down: “I don’t know, cause I’m never gonna watch them again, so how would I know?”

As a black person who is a football fan, I state plainly: this is stupid. I suggest this is the case, be it players of sports, politicians, and others with power and money they gained by the sacrifice of others. Here’s my question. Has there ever been a time where America as a whole has felt there was an appropriate time for black people to protest the injustice the black race faces here in America?

I am not saying people should not stand up for what they believe.
