Manchester United “must react” after third straight defeat – Mata

The Manchester United boss chose to publicly condemn Shaw’s performance, pinning the blame on the left-back for United’s defeat to Watford by claiming it was his fault the Red Devils conceded the second goal against the Hornets.

The former Red Devils boss is anxious about the direction Mourinho is taking the club in after he blamed the referee for their 3-1 loss to Watford.

The United job was a chance for Mourinho to rehabilitate his career after being fired a year ago for a second time by Chelsea.

Manchester United will look to snap a three game losing streak this Tuesday when they face League One side Northampton in the League Cup.

This is Watford’s first victory over United in 30 years.

He was then brought down in the box in injury time by Marouane Fellaini, allowing skipper Troy Deeney to slam home the penalty and make sure of the three points.

“He is 34 but he is the most talked about player in the Premier League”.

“I was completely aware that we were not ideal, with lots of players who are not end products and can make their own mistakes”. It is tactical but also mental. “But even at 25 metres, you have to jump and go and press, but no, we wait”.

Mourinho was unable to confirm if French winger Anthony Martial suffered a concussion in a first half collision with Watford’s Daryl Janmaat. So we have to improve, no doubt, individually and collectively. I don’t think he’s got the mobility to get around, he’s not got the pace he once had.

“The referee’s crucial mistakes are not in my control, there is nothing I can do about that”. We had the toughest start to the season with the five games that we have had but back-to-back wins in the Premier League is massive for anyone.

Elsewhere, reigning champions Leicester City eased past Burnley 3-0, Manchester City maintained their 100 per cent record to the season with a 4-0 Bournemouth drubbing, while Arsenal collected a convincing 4-1 victory against Hull City at KC Stadium. How much influence do they have in decisions about whether or not a player is concussed? Miscommunication between David De Gea and Chris Smalling led to a gilt-edged opportunity for Watford striker Odion Ighalo in the first half, and was the first of many defensive issues on the day.
