Pete Carroll and Seahawks fined for excessive contact in OTA

Two games is not a sufficient sample size to label the Seahawks offensively inept, but it’s enough to make you wonder.

That hasn’t happened to Seattle since the seventh game of Russell Wilson’s career, on a short week in San Francisco when the Seahawks’ game plan was dialed down to keep their rookie quarterback from being overwhelmed.

They were 46.5 percent converting third downs to extend drives last season. When you hold a professional football team to just three points, you’re the biggest victor of the day. “We took helmets off our guys, and we didn’t practice in helmets the entire OTAs and learned a lot about how to do that, had a really good offseason, no issues at all, and we practiced eight or nine weeks previous year without helmets on because we had learned how to do that well”.

That remains to be seen.

“I want touchdowns and we got down there”.

Ifedi was a star in training camp and in the preseason, the most aggressive and dominant of the offensive linemen, four of which are starting in new positions for Seattle this season.

That fact is true, but it doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story, either.

The relentless quarterback came within 35 yards in the final minute of yet another, defying victory Sunday.

“At the iconic LA Memorial Coliseum we witnessed what makes the City of Angels ready to welcome the world for the greatest celebration of sport on the planet – the Olympic and Paralympic Games”. The Rams’ defensive line has sacked Wilson 18 times in the past five meetings.

But with the ground game MIA through the first two weeks, perhaps it is no coincidence that Wilson’s numbers have suffered.

Carroll noted that after the Seahawks were penalized for violating rules during a minicamp in 2014, the team altered its plans for workouts in 2015 to practice without helmets consistently.

“I like touchdowns, but I love winning”, Keenum said.

OK, Coach. You said you don’t think it’s the offensive line, so what is it?

“I regret that anybody had to go through all of that, and I’m as remorseful as I can be about that”, Carroll said of the circumstances surrounding his exit.

And how do you go about doing that?

“We just have to get him some more touches”, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said.

A 21-year stint away ended earlier this year when the team announced in January that it would return to California. “We’re a little behind schedule there”.

Seattle Seahawks running back Christine Michael, center, fumbles the ball as Los Angeles Rams outside linebacker Alec Ogletree, right, recovers the ball and outside linebacker Mark Barron dives in during the second half of an National Football League f. That’s only a symptom of the real issue, though.

Three plays later, Wilson connected with Christine Michael. The Los Angeles cornerback, though, appeared to slip. “That’s a tough defense to attack and throw against”.

“They both got banged in the head pretty good, yeah”, he said. “The Rams, same thing”. They do tons of stuff.

In any other year – on any other ankles – Russell Wilson might have pulled off this one, too.

That’s not going to pacify the concerns about Seattle’s offense, and it shouldn’t. Seattle’s defense was stout, but still gave up five drives longer than 45 yards leading to Greg Zuerlein’s three field goals.
