He said the second device appeared “similar in design” to the first, but did not provide details. He says the president also expressed appreciation for the work of first responders.

Media at the scene reported early Monday hearing a loud explosion and smelling gunpowder after Bollwage earlier said that the Union County bomb squad’s robotic device indicated the package the men left near a train trestle could be a live bomb.

Police Commissioner James O’Neill said the unexploded device was found by two state troopers as they walked down 27th Street after calls to 911 alerted the police to a suspicious device.

An explosion in Manhattan on Saturday injured 29 people.

The Manhattan blast came hours after a pipe bomb exploded in Seaside Park, New Jersey, shortly before thousands of runners were due to participate in a charity 5K race to benefit Marines and sailors. No one was injured.

Police were warned by an anonymous caller that more explosions would follow Saturday’s bombing in NY. He says Obama will comment publicly “relatively soon”.

He was expected to comment Monday afternoon after a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi (HY’-dahr ahl ah-BAH’-dee) on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in NY.

“People didn’t know what was going on, and that’s what was scary”, said Anthony Zayas, an actor who was in the Chelsea neighborhood Saturday night when the bomb went off.

Meanwhile, Union County police say the FBI is investigating an incident that has halted NJ Transit trains between Elizabeth and the Newark airport in New Jersey. Cuomo was quick to state, however, “A bomb exploding in NY is obviously an act of terrorism”.

Authorities say the New York City bomb contained residue of an explosive often used for target practice that can be bought in many sporting goods stores. He is a naturalized citizen from Afghanistan.

Cuomo said on MSNBC: “Today’s information suggests it may be foreign-related, but we’ll see where it goes”. They’ve all since been released from hospitals.

Authorities are still investigating whether that bombing is linked to explosive devices found nearby in Manhattan and in two sites in New Jersey.

There have been no confirmed claims of responsibility for any of these bombs, and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Cuomo have both stated that no official conclusions have yet been made regarding who is responsible.

The NYPD tweeted Monday morning that authorities were seeking Ahmad Khan Rahami.

“We need to get this guy in right away”, de Blasio said on CNN. Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo toured the site Sunday. Authorities were trying to determine if they were connected.

Then, on Sunday night, two men called the New Jersey police after seeing a bag with wires and pipe sticking out of it inside of a trashcan near a train station in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Authorities in NY say they’re still questioning several people in connection with an explosion that injured 29 people in Manhattan Saturday night, as well as an unexploded pressure-cooker device found blocks away and an earlier pipe bomb blast in New Jersey.

On Sunday night, FBI agents in Brooklyn stopped “a vehicle of interest” in the investigation of the Manhattan explosion, according to FBI spokeswoman Kelly Langmesser.

No one has been charged and the investigation is ongoing, the FBI said.

“From what is known about the improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the cumulative death toll from these bombs might well have exceeded fifty, which is the threshold for classification as a “macroterror” attack in RMS models”, Woo explained.

The official, who was not authorized to discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity, said Rahami was not believed to be on federal terror watch lists at the time of the blasts.
