Pep Guardiola urged Manchester City fans to throw their full weight behind their Champions League challenge and stop booing the competition’s anthem.

“I didn’t know all of the English people here, or the Italian people before I came but they are so professional about their work – our players are in good hands”. We are here to create (history) for the people to talk about our club.

“I still have years more here and I hope to achieve that at some point as it’s really important for any player”, he added. “They’ve started so well so we’re going to have to be at the very top of our game to get something”.

And the City boss admitted that he is unsure whether Germany global Ilkay Gundogan is able to play again just three days after he made his debut for the club.

Guardiola also said it was up to his team to make home games unmissable.

David Silva will not feature in tomorrow’s clash, Guardiola confirming that whilst the injury the Spaniard faces isn’t serious he feels that Saturday would be too earlier an introduction.

His electric start to the season has coincided with Pep Guardiola’s arrival and Aguero believes that the former Bayern Munich boss will be the one to help him fulfil his Champions League ambition.

Guardiola’s dispatch will be to take them further and his record of coming to in any event the semi-finals in his seven Champions league battles – merging two triumphs with Barcelona – offers trust in the club’s taking after.

“But we can not forget where we are now – we are in September”.

He sat out of the derby triumph over Manchester United and will miss a further two domestic matches.

Wednesday’s match had originally been due to be played on Tuesday night but was postponed for 24-hours due to torrential rain at the Etihad.

“The trainers, when we win, after one hour, maybe three or four – we are so, so happy but then after we start to worry about the next one”. I’ve been thinking about it since two days ago.

“It was the most dominant performance of my time here, considering the importance of the game”. However, the City train is firmly under the direction its conductor, Kevin De Bruyne, who scored the opener against Man United and very almost grabbed the victor himself before Iheanacho slotted home his rebound.
