Tim Tebow’s First Day at Mets Camp is a Circus, Obviously
Tim Tebow tied his cleats for his first workout as a professional baseball player on Monday by joining 57 other Mets rookies at Port St. Lucie Florida, where he will play in the instructional league. The 2007 Heisman Trophy victor and former NFL quarterback got to the New York Mets’ complex early Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, with his first workout as part of their instructional league team to begin later in the morning.

After showing off his baseball skills before four dozen major-league baseball scouts on August 30, the Mets signed the former college and NFL QB to minor-league deal that included a $100,000 bonus.
Tebow may never reach Citi Field ” but chances are his merchandise eventually will. “It’s going to be a lot of fun and it’s something that’s definitely exciting for me”.
The Mets say Tebow will be excused Friday and Saturday for his broadcasting duties with the SEC Network.
Patriots Nation can rule out one potential candidate for any emergency quarterback needs following Jimmy Garoppolo suffering a shoulder injury Sunday, and with four-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady still serving his four-game “Deflategate” suspension.
Major League teams are not allowed to use a player’s name or image until he makes the 40-man roster, as those players are not considered part of the union.
Mets GM Sandy Alderson, however, said at the time that signing Tebow wasn’t about making money. Because people at the circus love souvenirs, right?
But keep in mind that this is only the first day, literally the real first step, in what likely will be a long journey for Tebow, who says he’s determined to pursue this as far as he can. Hes serious about this pursuit, and insisted that getting to the major leagues is his goal. Hitting a baseball is one of my favorite things to do in sports. And then over the course of the last few years its something Ive thought about a bunch. He did advocate that he is not doing this for attention, and that he is doing it to become a better baseball player.
